Description

A simple flex sensor 4.5″ in length. As the sensor is flexed, the resistance across the sensor increases. Patented technology by Spectra Symbol.

The resistance of the flex sensor changes when the metal pads are on the outside of the bend (text on inside of bend).

Connector is 0.1″ spaced and bread board friendly. Check datasheet for full specifications.

Introduction

The Flex Sensor 4.5 Inch is a flexible bend sensor used in Arduino projects, robotics systems, wearable electronics, and motion sensing applications. This sensor changes its resistance value when bent, allowing electronic systems to detect movement and bending angles.

Because of its flexible design, the sensor is useful for gesture control systems, robotic movement detection, and wearable electronics projects. In addition, it is lightweight and easy to integrate into embedded systems and prototype circuits.

Many students, makers, and engineers use this sensor for interactive electronics and motion-based automation projects. You can also combine it with the Arduino UNO R3 for rapid prototyping and sensor testing.

Understanding This Bend Sensor

This bend sensor works by changing electrical resistance when the sensor is flexed or bent. The more the sensor bends, the more the resistance changes. As a result, microcontrollers can measure movement and bending positions accurately.

The sensor is commonly used in robotics and wearable electronics because it can detect finger movement, hand gestures, and mechanical motion. Furthermore, its slim structure makes installation simple in compact electronic systems.

Developers often use this sensor in educational electronics and smart automation projects where movement tracking is required.
