Description

The GY-BNO055 is an all-in-one, intelligent 9-axis absolute orientation sensor module. It combines a 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer with an onboard ARM Cortex-M0+ processor that handles complex sensor fusion internally. This “plug-and-play” solution delivers high-speed, drift-free orientation data (Euler angles or Quaternions) directly to your microcontroller via I2C or UART, eliminating the need for complex external algorithms.

Elevate your robotics and motion-tracking projects with the GY-BNO055 9-DOF Absolute Orientation Sensor. Unlike standard IMUs that require extensive coding to “fuse” raw data, the BNO055 features a built-in 32-bit Bosch Sensortec sensor fusion engine. It processes raw inputs in real-time to provide stable, accurate orientation output—making it a favorite for drones, VR headsets, and autonomous navigation.
Key Features & Capabilities:
  • Integrated 9-Axis Sensing: Includes a 14-bit accelerometer, 16-bit gyroscope (±2000°/s), and a triaxial geomagnetic sensor.
  • Onboard Fusion Processing: Uses an internal MCU to output ready-to-use Euler angles, Quaternions, Linear Acceleration, and Gravity Vectors.
  • High Update Rate: Delivers fusion data at up to 100Hz for smooth, responsive motion tracking.
  • Versatile Communication: Supports standard I2C and UART interfaces with a wide power supply range of 3V to 5V (built-in low-dropout regulator).
  • Automatic Calibration: Built-in algorithms handle self-calibration for the accelerometer, gyro, and magnetometer to maintain long-term precision.
  • Compact Design: The small 12mm x 20mm footprint is ideal for space-constrained wearable and embedded applications.
Technical Specifications:
  • Voltage: 3.3V – 5.5V (5V tolerant I2C)
  • Interface: I2C (Address 0x28/0x29) or Serial/UART
  • Sensor Ranges: Accel (±2g/4g/8g/16g), Gyro (±125°/s to ±2000°/s), Mag (±1300µT)
  • Operating Temp: -40°C to +85°C
